The Chinese Crested is a toy breed that is alert and intelligent and can make charming companions. This breed is known to be playful and affectionate, but always remaining elegant and charming.
Contrary to popular belief, not by its name, the breed is believed to have originated in Africa and has been used by Chinese merchants in their ships to catch rats. In China, dogs were used as healing. Were also used as heating pads and as often the Chinese have eaten as a delicacy.
The Chinese Crested comes in two varieties, naked and Powderpuff. For people who are not aware of this, perhaps consider "bald" and "Powderpuff" varieties of them can seem like two different breeds.
